birthday adventure

Today was K's first birthday party geared to her chums. Over the past three years her birthday celebrations have involved large gatherings of friends and family. Today's party was more child-centred. Between 1 and 6pm K hosted 5 little friends, 2 older friends, and a small group of parents/friends, and family. With a total of 16 guests I was rather consumed with the BBQ during the early stages of the party. To provide some entertainment for the kids I brought K's slide and basketball game down from the attic. The kids had fun running around the back yard, and riding tricyles and scooters in the driveway. While eating chocolate cake the little ones took in a screening of Snow White. The pink pinata was a particular source of enjoyment. SJ had it fixed so K would be the one to break it open after a few rounds. I imagine there aren't many things more fulfilling than a shower of chocolate bars. A nice thing for K is that her massive doll house is set to arrive tomorrow.
