over the years / film festival

The Toronto Film Festival closed last Saturday evening. Over the past 8 years I've caught 17 films at the festival with various friends and family. It's a small enough number to remember each theatre experience distinctly. While the vast majority of these films has been above average, I'd say that only 1 has been a dud. A number of these films have moved me. Here is a list of the films I've seen at the festival:
  • Moonlight Whispers (Akihiko Shiota, Japan 99)
  • Nico and Dani (Cesc Gay, Spain 00)
  • Fighter (Amir Bar-Lev, USA 00)
  • Chunhyang (Im Kwon Taek, Korea 00)
  • Bisho de sete cabecas (Lais Bodansky, Brazil 01)
  • Violet Perfume (Maryse Sistach, Mexico 01)
  • The Quickie (Sergei Bodrov, Germany 01)
  • Inch'Allah dimanche (Yamina Benguigui, France 01)
  • Musa (Kim Sung Su, Korea 01)
  • Take Care of my Cat (Jae Eun Jeong, Korea 02)
  • Desire (Kim Eung Su, Korea 02)
  • Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter ... and Spring (Ki Duk Kim, Korea 03)
  • Dream Cuisine (Ying Li, China & Japan 03)
  • Pusher (Nicolas Winding Refn, Denmark 05)
  • The Porcelin Doll (Peter Gardos, Hungary 05)
  • The King and the Clown (Jun ik Lee, Korea 06)
  • After the Wedding (Susanne Bier, Denmark 06)
